Exchange Programs
The Japan Society of New Orleans (JSNO) plays a substantial role in cultivating the ties between New Orleans and its Japanese Sister City, Matsue. With a shared history dating back to the 1800s, these Sister Cities have remained connected by various sources, including writer and journalist Lafcadio Hearn, over the years until the relationship was made official in 1994.
In the years since, JSNO has sent a number of delegations to visit Matsue, building new relationships on decades of cultural appreciation.
