From the Lama Foundation and Chado New Mexico:

We hope that you and yours continue to be well and healthy during these intense times.  It is during these times that we invite you to the nineteenth annual Winter Solstice Tea & Meditation.  It will be on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 6:30am - 8am (MST.)

In consideration of the current state of the pandemic, we will be holding this event online via Zoom and we hope that you will join us for a time of quiet reflection in community.   The zoom link to this event is:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86983933353   Please let us know if you have any questions about utilizing Zoom for this event.

Because of the online nature of this event, there are a few things that we wanted to share with you.  Normally we (thank you dedicated Chado NM volunteers!) gather at Mabel Dodge Lujan house the day before, to speak our intentions and to purify & prepare the space.  We mindfully set out cushions and chairs and create the Tea making and preparation areas.  We hang a scroll and prepare the flowers and incense.  We unwrap sweets and sift the brilliant green powdered matcha Tea.

All the fragrances and sounds and sights add to the deep & complex feelings of this special event.

An hour or so before the event, we gather in the brisk & clear pre-dawn to start our final preparations.  One of our favorite parts of this event is the lighting of the hundred and eight tea light candles that were set out all around the room the day before.  It's a reminder of the returning of the Light and of remembering the Light within each of us.  And then we wait in comfortable silence for you, our beloved guests, to arrive.

This year we aren't able to do all of this.  What we are able to do is offer, to the best of our abilities, the Spirit of the Winter Solstice Tea.  We invite you to join us in preparing for this Tea in whatever way you feel called.  If you feel so moved, please prepare a comfortable sitting area and some sweets and implements to make and drink Tea (or another beverage!)   We may be online but we can still sit silently, eat sweets and drink Tea together.   And spontaneously share haiku too!

And so the spirit of Tea continues.  Please join us.  We are so grateful to you and the Light you bring to our world.

Sincerely,

Kathy & Jean
