Please join us for NOLA JCS – a monthly Japanese film series hosted by the Japan Society of New Orleans and Charitable Film Network with support from "Monday Movie Night at Café Istanbul."

Film Synopsis:

Shaken by the Japanese earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters of 2011, a young woman returns to Kasama to make sense of her family’s troubled past. Meditative moments at the pottery wheel punctuated by tense conversations, sudden earthquakes, and radiation level readings, KASAMAYAKI exposes the bittersweet process of coming to terms with an imperfect life, and the healing power of creativity. Japanese with English subtitles. There will be a short discussion with the filmmaker following the screening. (83 minutes, 2014)
